Here at Oxford we share a love for many things – books, baking, cheese and our beloved pets. Many desks are decorated with pictures of our furry best friends, and in honour of two new series from our Children’s division, we asked the staff a very important question:
Are you team Puppy Academy or team Dr Kittycat?
Kismet Howard – is a huge Birman who loves his beanbag. His favourite things include chicken and sitting on his little brother, Baci, before pushing him off chairs. His nickname is Grumpypants. – Jess
This is Loki. He was rescued from the RSPCA when he was 4 months old. Loves: Attacking my feet while I’m asleep, belly scratches, sleeping on laps and cheese. Hates: the red dot that comes out of my laser pointer, the vacuum monster and being ignored when I’m on my phone or computer. – Derek
This is Molly. She’s special to me because she’s extremely good natured and loving. She wants to greet and play with all living creatures (much to the dismay of the cats she meets in our neighbourhood). – Michael
This is Monte, he is a 2 year old Rhodesian Ridgeback and is characterised by a ridge of hair on his spine growing against the other hair (kind of like a mohawk). He is a gentle, laid-back giant, intelligent and athletic and loves to come for a cross-country run with me but is equally happy to find a sunny place and snooze the day away. – Sue
Don’t forget about bunnies! They are affectionate, quiet and clean, what more could you want from a pet? This is Murphy and he is a big sook (he loves kisses and cuddles). – Alyce
Here’s a photo of our cavoodle Ned, having a night in. He’s a definite part of our family. -Fleur
Oliver is special because he loves to sleep at my feet at night, and sometimes, like in this photo he decides that I really shouldn’t get up for work, I should just sit there and chill out with him. Most days, when we get home from work, he flops to the floor for a belly rub. – Stephen
Orla is a rescue puppy with a big personality and lots of love to give. She seems to think she is a mountain goat and can often be found standing on top of our rabbits hutch, she also loves to break into the hutch and steal the rabbits carrots, despite this both are the best of friends and have even worked on an escape plan together. Orlas other habits include digging holes, stealing socks and playing catch with her dry food – she actually takes a small piece of dry food from her bowl throws it in the air and catches it before eating it. She is without a doubt the most joyful happy puppy we have ever owned. – Gillian
One of our dogs, Rory, gets used as an Animal Assisted Therapy dog with my wife’s psychology practice. – Matthew
Here is our 2 year old cavoodle Rubi. She has the most expressive eyes – which everyone who meets her comments on…see for yourself! – Jo
Shep has no clever tricks, skills or abilities. He just likes spending time with us, and we love spending time with him. – Peter
My babies are my world. They are energetic, full of personality Hungarian Vizsla’s. Tila, is my girl, she is 4 and the kindest soul in the world. Tila has eyes that talk to you, make you feel incredibly cared for and nurtured. She is a Delta dog and is very proud when she wears her jacket visiting children. Cash (Johnny Cash) is a musical being. He talks about everything with a grumble at the bottom of his throat. He is a baby and only 1. He has more energy than me – If that is possible. We run everyday and we love our adventures! From bush walks, to ocean swims and coffee out! – Tess
Baci Howard – is pretty boy, but not the brightest. He spends his time alternating between sleeping and walking around headbutting things. His nickname is Headbutt. – Jess
This is Bailey, he is a 6 month old chocolate lab who recently graduated from puppy school. Clearly, he is very happy with himself. -Tess
This is our lovely Bryson who is sixteen years old. Bryson is a “failed” show dog on account of his legs being “too short” according to Jack Russell dog show judges; lucky for us as we were able to adopt him when he was two. I’m sure you will agree he is very handsome. – Heather
This is Buddy…Tenterfield Terrier, toy exterminator, cat intimidator, ball and water addict and Mummy’s boy!! – Sharlene
Chloe is special because we rescued her as a kitten from Ingrid’s Haven in Broadford. She loves to hang out with us and sit on our laps. She always comes when she is called and always arrives with a happy trill. She also loves to roll on her back and look up at us. – Stephen
Clem the Basset Hound was a much-loved family pet for many years. His notable traits included a lifelong refusal to respond to even the most basic commands and an obvious disdain for all humans – unless they were bearing food. Clem lived a long and happy life on a farm in Yarrawonga, ruling the roost and terrorising the cat. – Jessica
What makes my dogs (Cleo and Steve) special is that they are always so happy to see us, they love chasing each other about and love cuddles and tummy rubs! – Adriana
Eddie is special as he is truly a member of our family. He’s almost 11 years old, and has been with us for my children’s whole life. He is very protective of us, and has an innate ability to read our moods and respond accordingly. He’s also cuddly and will lick you on the face whenever he gets a chance! – Jodie
Meet Gucci (French Bulldog) and Brutus (PugXFrenchie), on their way to a bulldog ball! Dogs are so good to come home to and the best givers of unconditional love. – Andrea
Introducing Indiana Ryan – named after Indiana Jones, he is my very affectionate, playful Husky. Indi is very intelligent, independent and fiercely loyal, at almost 12 years old he still has endless energy, although he’s no longer the escape artist he once was! Indi has taught me many lessons over the years and I couldn’t imagine a more beautiful furry friend. – Ann
Isaac knows he is a member of the family, whatever we do, he does. Whether we are sitting around watching TV, eating dinner, or playing a round of cards, Isaac will do his best to join in. – Alex
